Our continued study on families has inspired the children to make dolls that represent their beloved family members!
The children have drawn their families, decorated frames for their family portraits to be hung in around the classroom, made models of their families, shared meaningful objects that represent their families, shared about holidays and celebrations that are important to their families culture and even shared their siblings during group time!

Our Sunflowers class has been deeply interested in exploring different settings and characters for their acting stories. When a classmate brought in a diorama he made
at home, his classmates could not wait to make their own, exploring character and setting in a deep and meaningful way!
This is collaboration and community.
This is early literacy and language development.
This is what it means to follow a deep interest, in your own way, at your own pace and in your own time.
Check out these dreamy dioramas from the rich imaginations of our Sunflowers class!

While the Farmhouse teachers are definitely enjoying these beautiful, sunny summer days, we are also looking forward to the new school year! We are ordering supplies, organizing the classroom and collaborating with each other on class names and curriculum. Teacher Rachel has even given our school puppets brand new bags so when the children take them home this year, they will do so in style!
We can’t wait to welcome you all back to school!

TEACHING OPPORTUNITY!
The Farmhouse School is considering adding a third teacher to our afternoon class! This would be an entry level position, perfect for a high school or college student.
The ideal candidate would be someone who adores children and is eager to learn about our teaching philosophy or child development in general.
The hours would be 12:15 to 3:45 and pay is negotiable!
Please reach out if you or someone you know is interested! Thanks in advance!
The Farmhouse School is looking for a qualified teacher to work one of our upcoming summer camps! The camp will run from July 7th-10th with shifts from 8:30 to 1:30! Please
Email [email protected] if you are interested in coming to teach alongside our wonderful young learners!

Each year, the children work on a collection of portraits. This has proven to be a impactful part of our anti-bias curriculum. Taking time to intentionally look at ourselves helps us reflect on our own identities while expressing our individuality and uniqueness.
This meaninful look at oneself fosters a sense of self-worth and belonging while building a broader awareness, an understanding of diverse perspectives, a celebration of differences and inclusivity by allowing students to explore their identities!
We also introduce the concept of positive self-talk as we practice affirmations. We talk about what is special about ourselves and our classmates and we practice speaking positively about ourselves, out loud.
This is just one of the many ways we aim to support the whole child here at The Farmhouse School!
The Farmhouse School is currently enrolling for a spot in our afternoon class, intended for children ages 4.5 to 5.5! If you would like to learn a little bit more about who we are and what we do, please reach out to schedule a tour!

A child’s visit to see a robot a family friend was building led the children to discuss what kind of robot would be the most helpful to them.
“I would make a robot to clean my room”
“My robot would make me any stuffy I wanted”
“I would make a robot that would deliver me candy”
The children drew their ideas in their journals. The following week, they used these drawings as loose plans to help guide the creation of their own robots!
