Newport School District is set among the vast evergreens of Northeast Washington and is bordered by the beautiful Pend Oreille River. Only 40 minutes from Spokane, the school district has a small town feel with a big time promise: to meet the needs of all students to help each of them become a successful and participating individual in school and in life. The District offers a traditional school schedule as well as an Alternative Program. Newport School District also offers a Parent Partnership Program which includes Homelink and the Learning Enrichment Center. The academic need of each individual student is our primary focus. We welcome the opportunity to challenge, nurture and encourage our students to reach their greatest potential.

On Saturday the cross country team competed at the Can Am Invitational in Kettle Falls.

We are still seeing massive improvements from most of our returning athletes compared to this time last year, despite illness affecting several of them. Elijah Sattleen led the boys team and Olivia Colins led the girls team to the finish line.

Congratulations to Logan Reinford by setting his best time ever by almost 3 minutes. This is also an improvement for Logan of over 15 minutes from just 2 years ago. That is an improvement of 5 minutes per mile in a 5k race.

Keep up the amazing work everyone, you guys are awesome. We have a home meet on Tuesday, September 22 with the first race starting at 4:00pm at the Stadium. Please come out and support our cross country runners.

On Saturday the cross country team competed at the Timberlake Invitational at Farragut State Park. This race is known for being one of the most difficult of the season. This is also their first 5k of the season. The biggest improvements at this race compared to last year are Aurelia Johnson with a 5:33 improvement finishing at 26:31 and Leif Axel with a 5 minute improvement finishing at 24:28. Olivia Collins lead the girls team finishing at 21:40 and Johnathan Hill lead the boys finishing at 21:19. Awesome job everyone, work hard and stay positive.
