Your investment account is up. Way up. The dashboard shows your $20,000 has grown to $84,000.
You try to withdraw, and your "advisor" explains there's one small step. A courier will come to your door to collect a payment. A real person. He'll even confirm his identity with a password, or by reading you the serial number on a dollar bill.
That courier is the giveaway, and the FBI just issued a warning about this exact move.
Three things to remember:
No bank, brokerage, or government agency ever sends a person to collect cash, gold, or cards. Ever. Real transactions need paperwork, not secret code phrases. A real account deducts fees from your balance. Only a scam demands fresh cash to "release" your own money.
The rule: If anyone wants to send a courier to collect from you, it's a scam. Stop, keep your money, and report it at ic3.gov.
