We had a great morning at Blueberry Hill Preserve with Chloe from Islesboro Islands Trust! 🫐

Our students enjoyed exploring the preserve, picking fresh blueberries, and learning about the plants and natural surroundings that make this special place such a wonderful resource on Islesboro. It was a beautiful morning to get outside, ask questions, and connect with nature.

Thank you to Chloe and Islesboro Islands Trust for welcoming us to Blueberry Hill and sharing this experience with our students.

🐝 Week 4: Bug Week at Islesboro Preschool! 🐞

Bug Week is buzzing along, and we’ve been having so much fun exploring the incredible world of insects! This week featured a very special visit from a local beekeeper, who shared fascinating facts about bees and the important work they do.

Today, our young artists painted their own beehives and worked together to create a beautiful community art piece inspired by everything we’ve been learning. Watching the children collaborate, create, and connect their new knowledge through art has been such a joy.

We can’t wait to see what the rest of Bug Week has in store! 🐝💛🌼

We’re wrapping up Week 3 of our IPS Summer Program, and what a fun week it has been!

This week’s theme was Water Week, and our days were filled with bubbles, splash pad fun, ocean-themed sensory bins, water exploration, and plenty of opportunities to cool off while learning through play.

We were also excited to welcome two of our wonderful monthly community visitors. Miss Chloe from the Islesboro Island Trust joined us to share stories and hands-on nature experiences, and Miss Melissa from the Alice Pendleton Library brought another engaging story time that our students always look forward to.

Week 2 of our Summer Program is here, and we’re celebrating all things red, white, and blue! 🇺🇸❤️💙

This week, our students are creating beautiful firework paintings to decorate our outdoor tent, designing festive floats for our very own IPS Fourth of July Parade, and cooling off with some exciting red and blue water play!

We are looking forward to a week full of creativity, laughter, and summer fun as we celebrate together

We wrapped up our first week of Summer Program 2026, and what a wonderful week it was!

Our “Welcome to Summer” theme gave us the opportunity to reconnect after time apart, build friendships, and learn more about one another through creative projects, sensory play, outdoor adventures, and lots of laughter. One of the highlights of the week was digging for gems, which the children absolutely loved!

Thank you for an amazing first week! We are excited to keep the fun going as we head into our next theme: 4th of July Week! 🇺🇸 Next week we’ll be exploring all things red, white, and blue with festive activities, art projects, games, and summer fun.

Happy Summer from all of us at Islesboro Preschool!

We’ve officially kicked off our Summer Program, and we are already having a blast!

This week’s theme is Welcome to Summer, a special time for reconnecting after time apart, building friendships, and learning all about each other’s favorite things. Today, our young artists created beautiful life-size flowers, bringing plenty of color and creativity to our day!

We’re looking forward to a summer filled with exploration, laughter, learning, and fun. Happy Summer from all of us at IPS! 🌞

Today at Islesboro Preschool we celebrate our Class of 2026! 🎓

While it is never easy to say goodbye, we cherish every moment we spend with our students and feel incredibly grateful to be part of their early years. Watching them learn, grow, explore, and develop into confident, curious little people is truly a privilege.

To our graduates, we are so proud of all you have accomplished and cannot wait to see where your next adventures take you. Thank you for letting us be part of your story.

Congratulations, Class of 2026! We will miss you, and we are cheering you on every step of the way. ❤️

🕷️ Spider Exploration Station 🕷️

If you've been around the preschool lately, you've probably noticed that we've been finding lots of large spiders around our playground and outdoor spaces! The children have been especially fascinated by these upland spiders, so we've decided to make spiders the focus of this week's Exploration Station.

Throughout the week, we'll be observing spiders, learning about their body parts, exploring how they spin webs, reading spider-themed books, and discovering the important role spiders play in our environment. The children's curiosity has sparked some wonderful conversations, and we can't wait to see what new discoveries they make!

Group work in a preschool setting provides children with valuable opportunities to learn and grow alongside their peers.

Through collaborative activities, children develop important social skills such as communication, cooperation, sharing, and problem-solving. Working in small groups also encourages children to listen to different perspectives, build friendships, and practice taking turns.

These experiences help foster confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging within the classroom community while supporting cognitive, language, and emotional development in a meaningful and engaging way.

Take a peek at some group work our little learners have done this past week!
