Our most recent theme was
CAMPING!
Who doesn’t get excited to play in a tent?
We found lots of words in our environment to use for practicing articulation
We worked on building fringe vocabulary (specific to a theme/topic)
We read & discussed stories about bears and other forest animals
We used our imagination!

Moving on to different activities this week! Don’t worry though, summer isn’t over yet!

Kayla has been working with pediatrics for several years and is passionate about helping children grow their communication skills through fun and engaging speech therapy. She brings such a warm welcoming energy along with a wealth of experience and knowledge, and we are thrilled to have her as part of the Happy Talk team!

This summer, Miss Kayla will be offering speech therapy sessions at the Happy Talk office in Irwin. She would love to meet some new little ones and support families looking for an extra summer boost in speech and language skills ☀️

Today we celebrated a Happy Talk graduate 🎓✨ what an exciting yet bittersweet time the end of May can be. So happy to be meeting our goals- but so sad to see them go!! Watching kids gain confidence in their communication is truly the greatest gift!

And to the parents — thank you for investing in your child’s voice and giving them the gift of communication. Your support, consistency, and love make all the difference.

Tomorrow = Happy 3rd Birthday to Happy Talk 🩵

I can honestly say these have been the best 3 years of my career. I’ve learned so much along the way, all with the goal of providing the best care possible for my families.

I’m so incredibly grateful for every family who has trusted me, especially those who have been with me since the very beginning… from my first “office” (aka a closet 😅) to now having a space that truly fits our needs.

I’ve also been lucky to work with a few amazing contractors who I trust so much. I’m very picky about who I bring on, because keeping this practice manageable and high-quality will always be my priority.

I feel fortunate when this life doesn’t feel like a “job”. This is a time-consuming career! Speech therapy is so much more than the time we spend together. It’s Sundays spent laminating and cutting, running to Target between sessions for birthday gifts, snacks, prizes, and little things that make our space feel fun and special. And I enjoy it.

Can’t wait to see what the next 2 years brings 😃

I’ve been seeing a lot about vitamins being a “game changer” for speech lately, and I just to offer a more balanced, evidence-based perspective.

I completely understand the desire for a quick fix—we all want to help our kids as quickly and easily as possible. 💛

Nutrition does matter, especially for kids with limited diets, and a multivitamin can be helpful for overall health. But speech and language development are complex, and there isn’t evidence that any vitamin directly improves speech or language skills.

Communication grows through connection, interaction, and (when needed) targeted support—not a single solution.

We want to support the whole child—just be cautious of anything that promises a quick or simple solution to something as complex as communication. 💛

All clinicians on the registry are speech-language pathologists or speech-language pathology assistants who have completed the Meaningful Speech course in gestalt language processing and the Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) framework and have demonstrated mastery of the information on the final assessment.
