Our schoolwide focus on oral reading fluency is coming to life in powerful ways!
Today, students practiced reading with a partner before reading individually. This extra opportunity to rehearse unfamiliar words, encourage one another, and build confidence led to incredible growth. 🌟
The progress was amazing, but even more meaningful was seeing students feel capable and excited about reading. Partner practice gave them a chance to strengthen their skills in a supportive environment and approach independent reading with confidence.
At St. Elmo Elementary, we're committed to Growing Greatness by helping every student become a stronger, more confident reader. Moments like these remind us that when students are given the right support and opportunities to practice, remarkable growth can happen! 💙 🐾 💛

🔢✨ Hands-on learning in action! Our students used manipulatives today to build a stronger understanding of place value. By physically moving and grouping pieces, they were able to explore ones, tens, and hundreds in a meaningful way. Cougar Cubs in Ms. Dubose’s 2nd grade class participated in a "Soak It Up" science experiment where they observed how water absorption varies across different surfaces: grass, cement, and soil. Working in pairs, students conducted timed observations to measure how quickly water soaked into each surface and tracked the evaporation process. This activity provided valuable insights into water absorption and environmental science concepts.
The collaborative nature of this experiment allowed students to develop observation skills, practice data collection, and engage in meaningful scientific inquiry. The results were both interesting and educational! 💙 🐾 💛

🌟 Meet Our Kindergarten Team! 🌟

There is something truly special about the beginning of Kindergarten! 🥹💙💛

Our Kindergarten teachers do an incredible job welcoming our newest Cougar Cubs—many of whom are stepping into a school building for the very first time! 🐾 They create warm, welcoming classrooms where students feel safe, loved, and ready to learn.

From learning where to put their backpacks to learning classroom routines, expectations, and how to be a student, our Kindergarten teachers patiently and intentionally build structure and routines that give our students the confidence they need to be successful.

Those first days and weeks of school are filled with so many "firsts," and our Kindergarten teachers are there every step of the way! They are laying the foundation for a successful school experience and helping our littlest learners begin to Grow Greatness! 🌱✨

We are so thankful for the patience, love, energy, and dedication they pour into our Cougar Cubs every single day!

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on these incredible ladies who play such an important role at St. Elmo Elementary! 💙💛

Our Special Programs staff support our students, teachers, and families in so many ways. From helping meet individual student needs to jumping in wherever they are needed, these ladies wear many hats and are always willing to lend a helping hand.

They are behind the scenes in so many of the things that keep our school running smoothly—and honestly, they help keep us afloat! 🐾💙

We are so thankful for the knowledge, dedication, flexibility, and heart they bring to St. Elmo each day. They are an important part of our Cougar Cub family, and we are grateful for everything they do to help us Grow Greatness! ✨
