We're very excited to make this announcement about Villa Lewaro, Madam Walker's Irvington, New York estate. Exactly 100 years after she moved into the house, Sundial Brands founder Richelieu Dennis and the Dennis family have acquired the home and are planning to create a think tank for black women entrepreneurs participating in their $100 million dollar New Voices Foundation initiatives.

The Villa Lewaro estate will be used as a "learning institute, or think tank, to foster entrepreneurship for present and future generations," according to New Voices Foundation's Richelieu Dennis.

On August 14, 1924 more than 400 Madam C. J. Walker Biography sales agents, beauty culturists and employees gathered at her mansion Villa Lewaro-History of Madam Walker's Estate as guests of her daughter A'Lelia Walker--Joy Goddess of Harlem's 1920s. They'd come to New York from 23 states and three countries to attend the eighth annual Walker convention. In addition to meetings, workshops and an awards ceremony, they enjoyed a dance at the Renaissance Ballroom in Harlem and an excursion on the Hudson River.
