✈️ IFOD Visits ADF!

The Institute of Flight Operations & Dispatch (IFOD) was proud to visit the Aviation Dispatch Federation (ADF) and reconnect with some of our former students who are continuing to make their mark in the aviation industry!

We also had the opportunity to tour Republic Airways, giving us a closer look at airline operations and how aircraft dispatchers play an important role in keeping flights safe, efficient, and moving across the network.

A special highlight was hearing from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and gaining valuable insight into aviation safety, accident investigations, and the importance of learning from every operation.

Thank you to ADF, Republic Airways, and the NTSB for welcoming IFOD and helping connect the classroom to the real-world aviation industry! 🛫

✈️ Another future aircraft dispatcher is taking flight!

Congratulations to Yi Ta Hsieh, recipient of the Institute of Flight Operations and Dispatch (IFOD) ADF Scholarship! 🎓

The scholarship was presented to Yi Ta by ADF President Miguel Reyes, recognizing his opportunity to pursue aircraft dispatcher training and work toward earning his FAA Aircraft Dispatch license.

At IFOD, we’re proud to help aspiring aviation professionals take the next step toward a career in flight operations and dispatch.

A special thank you to the ADF for the opportunity to reach more individuals and support those pursuing careers in aviation. We’re excited to see where Yi Ta’s journey takes him!

✈️ Inside ZID! 📡

Our IFOD students had the opportunity to tour ZID (Indianapolis ARTCC) and get a closer look at how Air Traffic Control works with aircraft dispatchers behind the scenes.

We saw how ATC manages airspace and traffic while dispatchers coordinate flight plans, weather, reroutes, and operational needs to help keep flights moving safely and efficiently.

A great experience connecting what we teach in the classroom to the real-world aviation system! 🛫

✈️ What happens behind the scenes before an aircraft ever leaves the gate?

Our IFOD class had the incredible opportunity to tour Southwest Airlines’ Network Operations Control (NOC) and get an inside look at the people, technology, and coordination that keep an airline moving.

For our future aircraft dispatchers, seeing these operations firsthand brought the classroom to life. Students were able to see what a dispatcher actually deals with throughout the workday — from monitoring flights and weather to coordinating with pilots and working alongside multiple departments to keep operations safe and efficient.

A huge THANK YOU to Southwest Airlines for welcoming our students and giving them a firsthand look at the world they are preparing to enter. Experiences like this show that dispatch is much more than working behind a desk — every decision can have an impact on the flight. 🛫

✈️🎓 Congratulations to the Last Summer Class of 2026!

The final summer class of 2026 is finishing up their aircraft dispatcher training this week, and we are excited to celebrate this accomplishment with them!

This class brought together students from around the world, including Japan, India, the USA, Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, and Pakistan. 🌎

We’re especially looking forward to seeing where these dispatchers go from here. Some are already working in the aviation industry with companies and airlines such as Southwest, Jet Aviation, JetBlue, and American Airlines, while others are preparing to begin the next chapter of their careers.

From IFOD to the flight operations departments of airlines around the world — the journey starts here.

Our students are finishing up testing this week as they work toward becoming FAA Certified Aircraft Dispatchers!

We’re proud to have students representing the United States, The Bahamas, Nigeria, South Korea, and Mexico. 🇺🇸🇧🇸🇳🇬🇰🇷🇲🇽

This class also had a great representation of veterans and active-duty military members, bringing their dedication, discipline, and experience into the world of aviation.
