There is a lot of things happening in Irving ISD this summer in June. Townley is hosting several programs on campus. This year as part of the reading and math summer school required for students that didn't pass one of their tests, Irving ISD offered them a chance to develop another skill in addition to improving their reading and math skills. STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math are all skills enhanced in learning to program basic games using the software Scratch. The program developed by one of Irving's own teachers help kids problem solve, apply math skills, and increases their technology proficiency. The students are really enjoying the activity and the critical thinking. You should see the additions to the programs they make once they have the basic program of the game done. It is really inspiring to see some of them really finding something new they can achieve. Note the bus floating through this game. Adding characters and programming their action in the games activates creativity and helps students think critically by analyzing the present code.

Everyone enjoyed the type of exercise you get in a bounce house or obstacle course. Many great vendors with helpful information on family health issues were present to as a resource for families.
