A 2015 article that I wrote and decided to repost given the challenges of 2020. I pray it bless your life.
May God’s favor shine upon you.
Weathering the Storm
I was having a conversation with my mom the other day, and we were discussing enduring and surviving difficult situations. During the conversation my mom said, “When you’re in the middle of weathering a storm you should remember to bring an umbrella.

Give Careful Thought to Your Ways🤔
“Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.” This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways.”
-Haggai 1:5-7 NIV
In this passage Haggai the prophet is relaying a message to Zerubbabel and Joshua to rebuild the Lords house. The people said it wasn’t time to build God’s house, but yet they were living in nice homes.
They decided that what God desired could wait until they deemed it necessary to rebuild His home.
Again, give careful thought to your ways.
When we put God on hold or take our blessings for granted, we’re sending a powerful message to God that He is not important. What He has done for us doesn’t matter. Although, every day we are a living breathing example of His grace and mercy.
Give careful thought to your ways.
Praise God and give thanks for His faithfulness.

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.
Trusting in God and not leaning on our own understanding will enable us to get out of God’s way and allow him to work miracles in our lives.
Have faith as God is faithful and He will never leave us nor forsake us.
Be blessed and be a blessing!

Abraham looked up and there in a thicket (bush) he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. -Genesis 22:13
Ram in the Bush!
A ram in the bush was God’s substitute for Abraham to use as a sacrifice in lieu of his son Isaac. I recently experienced a similar situation, were something evil was intended for me. However, my God had another plan for the outcome. As a result, He provided a ram in the bush for me! In this world we face perils of many kinds that are meant to harm, discourage, and discredit us. However, take heart, when you find yourself in a dire situation and you think all is lost. Remember God is faithful and just, He will provide your every need.

Taming the Tongue
"If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all."
“We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check...
The tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider that a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell...but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.” -James 3:2, 5-6, 8 NIV
Oh but God can help change your heart, which will help you control your tongue.
“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.””
Matthew 19:26 NIV
As my Mom says, "Watch your mouth!" And think about how your words taste before you serve them to someone else.
Be blessed and a blessing.

Be Merciful!
“Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful.
Mercy triumphs over judgment.” -James 2:12-13 NIV

Do not repay evil for evil!
“Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice, or the LORD will see and disapprove and turn his wrath away from them.” -Proverbs 24:17-18
We all have had experiences of someone mistreating us or taking advantage of us in some way. As such our carnal side will often contemplate or dream of an opportunity of how and when we will "pay" this person back and make recompense for the wrong that has been done.
At one point in my life, there was a time when I would spend countless hours dreaming about how I would aggressively address someone who had treated me poorly and how I would exact my revenge. As I reflect back, I realized this was quite unproductive and of course I never carried out my plan. As it was not in my nature to willingly and intentionally cause another person harm. I realized what I really wanted was for them to understand and "feel" how much they had hurt me. To that end, I have found that when I let go of the situation and allow God to intervene at His will, I find solace in knowing that God can deal with the person far better than I ever could.
Vengeance is mine, said the Lord. So let God decide if and when to repay someone for an injustice. Don't allow someone else's poor behavior to block your blessings.
Shine your light!

Do not fret evil!
Sometimes in life it appears that only the wicked prevail. However, if you remain focused and faithful God will exalt you in His time.
“Do not fret because of evildoers or be envious of the wicked, for the evildoer has no future hope, and the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out." -Proverbs 24:19-20
Do not lose hope and do not fret!

Be Resilient!
Giving up is never an option when you believe in God.
Resilient people take control of their circumstances and find meaning and purpose in their suffering.
God is with you during your struggle. Don't give up when what you dream doesn't appear to be coming true!
Hold on and believe because He is faithful!
