🎊 Happy New Year Everyone! 🎊

2024 was my first calendar year as a full time entrepreneur! Access Learning’s transition from side hustle to main gig was a definite leap of faith! I’ve learned a lot about myself, and I’ve had ample opportunity to trust God! As I look forward to the next year, I’d love to share how I’ll be transforming my work and impact.

I’m proud of the partnerships I’ve made with nonprofit organizations serving students with learning disabilities like dyslexia. By transitioning to virtual reading intervention instruction, I’ve been able to reach students not only in Washington and Texas, but also Montana, Wisconsin, New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Toronto.

As I continue this important work, I’ll be expanding my role in the homeschooling community, not just with instruction but also through consulting…addressing the challenge homeschooling parents face in providing effective, personalized reading instruction for children with dyslexia or other learning disabilities; empowering them with research-based tools and supportive guidance to thrive in their teaching role as they nurture confident, skilled readers. I’m honored to have the knowledge and skill to share strategies with families who aim to educate their own children.

Stay tuned for these offerings in the coming year and please keep me in mind if you know any students in need of dyslexia intervention or parents in need of consultation. Many blessings to you in the coming year! 🙏🏾

As the end of this eventful summer draws near and I reflect on all that has happened, I can only marvel at God's goodness. I moved to a new state, dropped my youngest off at university, became a grandma (I'm Gigi actually 😉) and I'm loving every bit of my life! Yet I am missing my students and can't wait to see them again soon! I'm just completing the final touches of my home office pictured here.

As a Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist, I tutor students (young and old) who struggle with reading and support families in advocacy for their students. If you or someone you know needs help with reading, I am here.

I still have some morning and early afternoon spots available for this fall. Message me for more information.

And that's a wrap! After 27 years...not sure if I will return to public education after we move. It is more likely that I will focus on my business: accesslearning.co. So I haven't been calling my departure 'retirement'. But I got one of these anyway. 😅 To my esteemed colleagues...you are some of the strongest, most compassionate and selfless people I know....keep up the good fight. 🧡🖤🧡🖤

This podcast is for every teacher or parent who is wondering why so many kids can't read.

Sold a Story: How Teaching Kids to Read Went So Wrong There's an idea about how children learn to read that's held sway in schools for more than a generation — even though it was proven wrong by cognitive scientists decades ago. Teaching methods based on this idea can make it harder for children to learn how to read. In this new podcast, host Emily H...
