1. Position: VR Software Engineer (Intern)
Description: We are looking for a VR (Gaming) Software Engineer (Intern) to help create a VR workspace environment for professionals who work remotely. This candidate would be responsible for laying the foundation for this program, as we are in the very beginning phase of creating this reality. There is a lot of freedom in this project, so there will be a lot of dialog, working through problems and figuring out the best route to take to accomplish this task. The candidate will work remotely, but everyone who will be working on this project is located in Orange County, so there can be face-to-face meetings, if necessary.
Rate: $20/hr
2. Position: UI/UX Web Designer (Intern)
Description: We are looking for a UI/UX Web Designer to help design a new website we are working on building for MMA Analytics. We have a few APIs we are currently working with, and as we work on putting together the datasets we will be using, we want to begin designing a website. We have several websites to reference. We will want to be able to get access to all designs maybe through Invision or another platform that you recommend. This candidate will work closely with myself to make sure all specs for the website design are correct.
Rate: $18/hr
3. Position: Data Scientist w/ Strong ML knowledge (Intern)
Description: We are looking for a Data Scientist with strong knowledge in Machine Learning Algorithms. We have a couple of APIs that have the data we want to use to start running these algorithms on. We currently have 1 other professional working on this project, so you will be joining a team to work on this. The data you will be analyzing will be MMA data. We are working on creating a new way for users to interact with sports data using Data Science. We are currently using python, but we are open to using other languages to analyze these datasets.
Rate: $20/hr

Research Opportunity for Cybersecurity in Self-driving Car and Smart City
Professor Qi Alfred Chen at the Computer Science department is looking for undergraduate/graduate students interested in research on existing cybersecurity problems in self-driving cars, smart cities, and IoT/CPS systems in general. Prof. Chen is an expert in discovering and fixing security problems in emerging technologies such as smartphone, smart home, and smart transportation. His work has found multiple security flaws in both computer systems such as Android and smart traffic light system, and computer network protocols such as in TCP and DNS. These results led to a U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) US-CERT Alert (TA16-144A), multiple CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) and Android bug tracking records, and email acknowledgements from security teams in Apple, Microsoft, and Comcast. His research was published in all the top-tier security conferences, and covered in more than 50 news articles by major technology new media such as Ars Technica, CNET News, BBC News, Wired, etc. More details can be found in his webpage at http://web.eecs.umich.edu/~alfchen/.
Any undergraduate/graduate students with strong background on the system and/or networking knowledge, or with good programming or reverse engineering skills are encouraged to apply. Security background, static or dynamic program analysis, or formal verification experiences are not required but big pluses. If you are interested in practical security problems and enjoy hacking, the position would be an excellent fit.
