5th Grade had the best time on their field trip to the Kentucky History Museum!

They toured the old Capital building, while learning all about its history, architectural design, and even getting to participate in how a bill becomes a law!

At the History Museum, they toured each time period, from Natives all the way to current times.

They had a great time learning and exploring together.

Today, Mrs. Floyd’s room transformed for Monster Day, and it was a monstrously fun day FULL of learning, laughter, and challenges! 👹💚

📚 In reading, students:
• Matched character traits to different monster stories
• Completed a close reading activity about how to make a monster and answered questions using the RACE strategy
• Became authors and illustrators by creating their very own monster, choosing a character trait, and writing a story to show that trait in action!

➕ In math, students put their skills to the test with a Monster Escape Room! They had to solve FOUR different puzzles using rounding and three-digit addition and subtraction to successfully escape! 🔐🧮

📖 During Read Aloud, we read How to Catch a Monster and enjoyed a monsterly good drink…complete with WORMS! 🪱🥤😋

Throughout the day, students earned monsters as they successfully completed their different challenges. There were lots of laughs, tons of learning, and so much fun along the way!

What a FABULOUS way to kick off Fall Break! 🍂🎃👻 Mrs. Floyd’s little monsters definitely earned their break! 💚

We can’t believe 8 weeks have already flown by! We have absolutely loved having Miss Beard as part of our classroom family, and she is going to be SO missed!

Ms Baber’s class surprised her with a little going-away party, but she turned around and surprised the kids with snow cones! 🍧🥹 She has poured so much love, time, creativity, and care into our kiddos, and they have loved every minute with her.

We love you, Miss Beard, and we already know you are going to be an AMAZING teacher! Your future students are going to be so lucky to have you! 💕

Our kiddos put so many of their 2nd grade skills to work in one fun cumulative challenge! Working with a partner, they completed fall-themed tasks with skip counting by 10s and 100s, fact fluency within 20, adding and subtracting 10 and 100, and reading comprehension skills like identifying the beginning, middle, end, and moral of a story.

They worked together, explained their thinking, solved each challenge, and kept going until they officially unlocked the pumpkin patch! 🧡🍂 And of course, all that hard work earned them the best kind of prize… some deliciously silly “Pumpkin Poo!”

Such a fun way to review, collaborate, and show just how much they’ve learned! 🧡📚
