How fun was AWISH! A BIG BIG thank you to Christina Haupenthal and Nikta Mody for not only coordinating, organizing and finding performers and booths for AWISH, but also for the time they spent lugging and hauling all the supplies around! If you love AWISH please consider joining the AWISH team for next year and learning from these amazing ladies.

AWISH (Around the World in Santiago Hills)
AWISH is happening VERY soon — Friday, April 17th from 5–7pm! Our biggest, most beloved event of the year is almost here, and we’re gearing up for another incredible multicultural celebration. To make this year’s festival as vibrant, colorful, and exciting as AWISH is meant to be, we need more country booths!

We are looking for more booth volunteers! More booths = more fun, more food, more culture, and more magic for our kids and community.

🎪 How to host a table

1) Choose a country Any country that isn’t already taken! No cultural connection required — just enthusiasm and a willingness to share food, drinks, crafts, or activities.

2) Pick what you want to offer A food, a beverage, a craft/activity… or both!

3) Prepare 400 small servings Think “small bites.” AWISH is a tasting experience, not a full meal. We want families to enjoy a little bit of everything.

4) Get reimbursed Up to $300 for food and $50 for crafts. Save your receipts!

Teams are welcome and encouraged — kids LOVE helping at AWISH. They can serve food, take tickets, make signs, and show off their creativity. Many SH alumni even come back to volunteer because this event holds such special memories.

And remember: your booth does NOT have to represent your own heritage. Pick any country, learn something new, and share it with the community!

March 30th — please sign up to host or help at a table by then!

Yearbook Cover Contest!

Here’s some text with rules:
Submit your entry by February 13!
- drawings must be done in freehand by individual student only
-no digital submissions
-must be submitted on an 8 1/2 x 11 paper (do not put any words or images close to the edges or they might get cut off)
-must be in vertical (portrait) format
-students name must be on the back along with the teacher’s name
-completely fill in the background with color
-artwork must include “Santiago Hills Elementary” and “2025–2026“
-submit to your teacher!
