As we wind down AANAPISI Week, we wanted to share our students’ stories and amplify their voices one final time. We asked our students the question, “What IVC being an AANAPISI meant to them”. The impact of IVC being an AANAPISI and the ELEVATE AAPI program have been instrumental in supporting, serving, and empowering our AANHPI students on campus, and it’s equally as important to ensure we amplify their voices.
“It allows me to get the support necessary to continue striving toward my future goals and has helped me a lot in attending school.”
“IVC being an AANAPISI allows support for students to get help that need it especially being a part of ELEVATE.”
“IVC being an AANAPISI means that we are supported and encouraged to embrace our cultures.”
“It means being an independent and aspiring Asian American to pursue higher education and provide for my family opportunities that they weren’t so fortunate to have.”
“It means feeling confidence and security that everyone here has equal opportunities and support system.”
“It means I can get the support I need to make college possible for me. I have many financial barriers to higher education, and IVC being an AANAPISI helps me overcome those.”
“For me, IVC being an AANAPISI means that there’s resources and services for me and my community in order to help us feel empowered and acknowledged.”
“It means that as an Asian American, I feel like I belong. IVC provides academic and financial support to me, and since I’m in the elevate program, I meet more students that are similar to me.”
“IVC being an AANAPISI gives me a voice and real chance to be successful.”
“For me, I don’t have to worry as much about school stresses because I know the ELEVATE program and Asian American services provide me with endless support to transfer to a UC.”
“It’s means the help and support we get daily. As students getting a chance to be heard, respected, and form bonds. It is also helps students with financial difficulties.”
