Meet our Guest Lecturer: Dr. Shinyong (Shawn) Jung 🎓

We were honored to welcome Dr. Shinyong (Shawn) Jung, Associate Professor of Tourism, Event & Sport Management at Indiana University Indianapolis, as a guest lecturer for our MBA505 Marketing Management course.

With a career spanning international hospitality (Shepard, COEX Intercontinental Hotel) and academia at Purdue, Metro State Denver, and IU Indianapolis, Dr. Jung brought real world insight into Consumer & Business Markets and Integrated Marketing Communications.

Big milestone for the Virscend University SBIR Center!

We've published 24 articles in 2026 alone, building on 12 from 2025. That's 36 total articles and counting.

Our Center for Sustainable Business Innovation and Research continues to turn scholarly work into practical insight, connecting our students, faculty, and industry partners with real-world impact.

This distinction reflects Dr. Cobanoglu's sustained contributions to hospitality education through scholarly research, academic leadership, and the mentorship of students and faculty.

Virscend University was delighted to participate in the Celebrate Irvine 2026 & Mid-Year Economic Calibration event hosted by the Greater Irvine Chamber on June 11, 2026.

Our team had the opportunity to connect with local business leaders, entrepreneurs, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders, sharing more about our academic programs, global partnerships, and international student initiatives. The event was a wonderful reminder of the value of strong connections between higher education, industry, and the broader community.

The Mid-Year Economic Calibration session also offered meaningful insights into regional economic trends and workforce needs, reinforcing our commitment to preparing the next generation of business leaders right here in Irvine.

Virscend University was proud to participate in NAFSA 2026 in Orlando, Florida, joining thousands of international education leaders and institutions from all over the world.

Our team held productive meetings focused on developing new academic partnerships, student exchange opportunities, study abroad programs, and collaborative research initiatives.
