We are extremely pleased to announce that the Estill County Middle School Choir scored a Distinguished rating at the District 11 Kentucky Music Educators Association Assessment Festival today! This is such an accomplishment for this group, especially considering the amount of rehearsal time we lost this school year, the cancellation of our preview concert last week, and 6 students being absent today. If you know any of these students in your classes, please congratulate them, because they really had to work hard to make this happen.

Tentative spring events:

Spring Assessment concert- Monday, March 16 (change from what was in the winter concert program) @ 6:30 in the HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM. Admission will be $3 per adult, students/children are free.

Middle school choir assessment trip- Monday, March 23 (during the school day) at the Boyle County Performing Arts Center. We will be traveling by bus and lunch will be provided.
Background: The Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) holds assessments for instrumental and vocal ensembles each spring. This assessment allows students to demonstrate what they have learned in choir during the year. Each group performs 2 prepared songs then sight-reads an unknown selection in front of judges and are scored novice, apprentice, proficient, or distinguished.
ATTIRE:Students will need to wear their Choir Shirt with black pants and dark shoes.
If you have an issue with getting these items, please let Mrs. Arthur know ASAP.

POPS Concert- Tuesday, May 5 @ 6:30 in the HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM. Admission will be $3 per adult, students/children are free.

Now the concert will be Wednesday, December 17th at 6:30 in the high school auditorium. If for some reason there is no school on Wednesday, the choir concert will be completely canceled.

DON'T FORGET!!!
High school graduation- THIS Friday, May 23: Our middle/high choir has been asked to perform at graduation. Please make every effort to be there. Choir students should be in the high school gym by 6:30pm. Graduation starts at 7:00pm. If you aren’t attending graduation, you can drop your child off and be back to pick them up at 8:00pm. (This is the estimated time I believe we will be finished performing.)

This has been a wonderful year & I hope you have a great summer!
