In today’s world, we spend a lot of time indoors for work or school, which means less exposure to sunshine. Here in Southern California, we get so much sunshine we can easily take it for granted! Sunlight is a great source of vitamin D, which helps our brains release chemicals such as serotonin and endorphins. Hit the beach the next time you feel like you need a self-care day (Remember to wear proper sun protection!). 😎☀️✨

Metacognition is a complex skill, but to put it simply, metacognition is the ability to THINK about THINKING. The ability to do this appears around middle childhood, and can be improved through practice. Why is it important to be able to think about thinking? For students, being able to do this allows them to identify what they know and what they don’t know by themselves rather than relying on an external source (teachers, tutors, tests, etc.) to inform them. This empowers students to become more successful learners! ✨

We teach our kids to seek help when they need it, and as adults, sometimes it is easy to forget to do the same. Whether it is in the workplace, at home, at school, or in any other setting, there are things that are challenging to handle on our own. There is no shame in asking for help - feeling supported by even just one person can make a world of difference.
