Irvine Chinese School Our vision is to be the best-run non-profit Chinese education and cultural institution in North Amer Language Arts is required curriculum for all grades.

爾灣中文學校大多數學生之年齡介於五歲至十八歲之間，另設有成人班提供成人學習中文。目前本校有一千多名學生，依其中文能力分成近五十個班別，課本以僑委會提供的華語課本及初中華文為主。學習語文是各年級之主要課程。學校教授基本發音、注音符號、漢語拼音、字體、文法、標點符號、會話、聽寫及中國文化。除此之外，另設有多項選修課程，內容包括國畫、書法、紙藝、圍棋及象棋、編結、中文電腦、基本會話、歷史、地理、詩詞、舞蹈、笛子、弦樂、領導能力訓練及運動才能之培養。近年來，更引進電腦輔助教學，以期提高學生學習之興趣及效率。另設有校外學分班。此學分班已經南加州部分學區核准。

ICS students range in age from five to eighteen years old, Adult classes are also offered. The current enrollment is currently more than a thousand students who are placed in one of fourteen grades, depending on their language ability and their placement test. The course includes instructions in traditional phonetics, Han Yu Pin-Yin, writing, grammar, punctuation, conversation, customs, folklore and other aspect of Chinese culture. In addition, we offer elective classes such as Chinese painting, Chinese calligraphy, chess, crafts, carton, performing arts, computer, sports and others. ICS also offers a special program for high school students that allow them to earn five credits each semester. This program has been approved by the following school districts: Newport Mesa, Saddleback, Huntington Beach Union High, Irvine, Tustin, Orange, Capistrano and Fountain Valley...

Our young drummers are already on Day 4 of Summer Camp! After just three afternoons of practice, they have been working incredibly hard to prepare for Friday’s performance. They are excited to share the results of their hard work with Teacher Yu!

In just 5 summer camp afternoons, our young students learned to play familiar children’s songs, and some even challenged themselves with more advanced pieces! They had a wonderful time learning and making music together. A big thank you to Master He and Yu from South Coast Chinese Orchestra for their inspiring guidance and dedication!

Summer program-Chinese instrument campers had a great start today! Conductor He from South Coast Chinese Orchestra began with drum rhythm training, then explored different Chinese instruments. They chose their own instrument! We can’t wait to see their growth and progress over the next four days!

The Sweet Art of Sugar Painting 指尖上的甜蜜藝術- 糖畫
On Sunday morning, students were greeted by the rich aroma of caramelized sugar wafting through the lobby. Sugar Painting (Tanghua) is a 400-year-old traditional folk art and a recognized Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage. We were honored to have Rose Yang, a talented student from Troy High School who apprenticed under a master in Chongqing, join us to demonstrate this unique craft. Using a ladle as her brush and melted sugar as her ink, Rose brought characters to life with remarkable speed and precision. Her creations capture the essence of Chinese calligraphy, paper-cutting, and shadow puppetry.

週日上午，學生們一踏進校門，空氣中便瀰漫著大廳傳來的濃郁焦糖香。糖畫是一項流傳四百年的古老民間藝術，更是珍貴的中國非物質文化遺產。我們特別邀請到曾師從重慶「糖畫」大師的 Troy 高中生楊淡茹 (Rose Yang)，來到校園為大家現場演示這項畫糖絕活。她「以勺為筆、以糖為墨」，流暢的線條在鋼板上飛舞，作品完美融合了中國書畫的蒼勁、民間剪紙的細膩以及皮影戲的神韻。請欣賞這些精彩瞬間！
