Poorya “Pooris” Baine is firmly focused on taking a lifelong passion and transforming it into his life’s work. But his hasn’t been a straightforward or easy path. He grew up in Northern Iran, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and eventually ran his own video game company – testing and selling games and related accessories while capitalizing on his love for game development and design.

Thanks to your support, our Lasers are breaking barriers! IVC student Vaishu Kagita is motivated to shatter the glass ceiling and drive change in the tech industry. As president of IVC’s Girls Who Code Club and a data science major, Vaishu is determined to close gender gaps in STEM.

Inspired by her family’s tech journey, she chose IVC for its exceptional programs and welcoming community. “The teachers and counselors are always there for you,” she says.

With your help, Vaishu is on track to achieve her goals of transferring to UC Irvine or UC Berkeley and making an impact as a data analyst.
