These Suzuki violin students from my Irvine studio are now young adults and have scattered around the world with the wind. I would love to hear what they are up to. Feel free to call or text Ms. Cynthia if you would like to she an update.

Stop playing games and really start learning to play the violin. Start listening to open the door and take lessons to get in the room with the violin physically. Playing the violin is a very physical as well as mental experience. Lifting your hands to the level of your heart increases your vascular circulation in your upper body the heart muscle itself. Bowing on the strings requires the balance of dancing.
It doesn't matter how good you become at playing the violin. It is the process that stimulates your body and your brain.
While studying in Japan we always wondered why Dr. Suzuki lived so long. Was it the green tea or the Japanese diet? Was it spending more time with children? Most of my teachers have been long-lived and fairly alert people.
Spoiler alert. It was the violin they played every day right under their nose that animated their lives and kept the brains and their hearts viable.
Music is the software that our brains are running on. It is the power horses of music and the Arts that we should be pulling the heavy cart of Education with.

It's Saturday morning in Irvine, CA and I just taught a PreTwinkle class with a new Suzuki family that started 3 weeks ago. They are about 4 and 5 years old and they just started listening to the Step by Step CD tracks for the first two Twinkles. They are now tapping them on Ready Go with their nicknames: Yummy, Yummy Cup Cake, Cup Cake * Eat. These are words the children can remember easily to recall each rhythm.
Practice is enjoyable and meaningful using my Got2Twinkle activities that help parents and children pace their repetitions. Our brains have a chance to catch up and grow in confidence with new skills.
Today we tapped each Twinkle pattern in time with the music tracks they have been listening to softly in the background with the single repeat. Listening is magic!
Get the Step by Step CD and get a head start listening. You can find a link for it on my Violinsensei Pinterest page. Follow the button on www.got2twinkle.com

Comfort on a violin does not have to cost a fortune. Always ask your teacher before you buy a shoulder rest. Choose a teacher who has your best interest at heart. She does not accept commissions from the violin store.
