Between the cost of tuition, rent, and dealing with the effects of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, food insecurity is becoming way too familiar for undergraduate and graduate students.
To help address the issue of hunger and food insecurity that graduate students face on UCI's campus - the UCI Public Policy Student Association and the UCI MPP Alumni Association have put together a list of some local resources to help ensure that no student goes to bed hungry.
Check out our website to find direct links to a few trusted local and state organizations and resources - along with descriptions of provided services.
If you require further assistance or would like to share additional resources with us, please fill out the request form on our located on our resource webpage or feel free to reach out to any PPSA board member.

Did you know that the food served in prison has become an additional form of punishment for people who are currently incarcerated, and that it continues to punishes those who have experienced incarceration even after they are released?
More often than not, this additional form of punishment has serious impacts on physical health, mental well-being, and sense of human dignity last long after a sentence has been served.
PPSA would like to congratulate Heile Gantan, a first-year MPP student at UCI, for joining Farm to Institution New England to take part in very special panel discussion on the Prison Food Experience - uncovering the depths of the impacts of eating in confinement, the relationship between food and trauma, and the connection between food and substance use.

We are so excited to announce that we have partnered with American Family Housing - along with the UCI Master of Public Policy Program and the UCI School of Social Ecology - to bring together experts to discuss the integration of health and housing. With housing as a clear social determinant of health, we must rethink ways to provide access to quality housing with an increased component of health.
Join our conversation on Friday, April 16th. Featured speakers include Richard Sanchez, CalOptima; George Searcy, Jamboree Housing, Senator Josh Newman. Our Keynote Speaker: Dr. Margot Kushel of the UCSF Center for Vulnerable Populations and the Benioff Housing and Homelessness Initiative. Plus stay tuned as we announce our Second Panel: "Practical Experience and Applications." ⠀
