A new take on a Sondheim classic, performed in the round with one piano!
From one of musical theatre's most renowned composers, COMPANY is widely regarded as a musical that redefined Broadway in the 1970s by abandoning linear storytelling and focusing instead on a conceptual theme. This ‘concept musical’ follows Bobby on the night of a big birthday contemplating dating, marriage, friendship, and loneliness through a series of vignettes from dinners, drinks, dates, phone calls, and even a wedding. COMPANY features a brilliantly brisk and energetic score containing many of Stephen Sondheim's most famous known songs; and explores adult relationships with honesty, humor, and complexity. The strength of the piece lies in its vivid, flawed, loving, and relatable characters and their connections to each other. Through a simplified production concept and an orchestra of one piano, IVC’s production will focus on telling the stories of human beings seeking meaningful connection with themselves and each other.
