The upcoming school year will undoubtedly be different. If you’re like me, you’re worried about how your children will cope, in school and at home.

If you make time for nothing else, READ ALOUD at home this year. Even 5-10 minutes a day. Even if your kids can read to themselves. Even to your 8th graders. There is nothing else you can do (for free!) that will have a bigger impact on academic achievement and family unity during this crazy time.

And yes, we’ll help you with the books!

It looks like Plaza Vista agrees with the rest of the kids in California! Drew Daywalt and Adam Rex have won the California Young Reader Medal, Primary category!

Great winners in other categories, too: Her Right Foot, The War I Finally Won, Refugee and Scythe! There’s your summer reading list right there!
