Today is School Lunch Hero Day and we would like to thank our superhero Nutrition Services team for their hard work and dedication! Such a special evening at IUSD’s Abilities Awareness Event: Allyship in Action! 🩵

Ms. Palmeri, Mrs. Sierra, and Mrs. Barnett from our ESN Autism Program were proud to represent our program alongside our amazing Lion Allies at our “Nacho Average Lions” booth, where they sold nachos 🧀 to help raise funds. 🌟

We loved seeing our community come together to celebrate inclusion, connection, and support for all learners. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and made the night so meaningful!

In an era of constant connectivity, many of us are noticing a profound shift in the way our children navigate the world. To foster a supportive community and open dialogue, we are excited to invite you to join our upcoming Summer Book Club featuring Jonathan Haidt’s insightful new book, “The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood Is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness.”
Why This Book?
Haidt explores the transition from a “play-based” childhood to a “phone-based” childhood. He offers a data-driven look at how social media and constant digital access are affecting youth mental health, while providing practical, actionable steps for parents and schools to help kids reclaim their independence and resilience.
What to Expect
We want to make this a low-pressure, high-value experience for our families. Here is how it will work:
The Info Session: Come to our introductory meeting to get an overview of the book’s key themes and learn why we believe this conversation is vital for our school community.
Summer Reading: We have a limited number of copies available in our school library! During the meeting, we will begin taking names for our “check-out” list. You’ll have the entire summer to read at your own pace.
Discussion “Office Hours”: Rather than a one-time event, we will host casual discussion sessions throughout the 2026-27 school year. These “office hours” will be a space to share reflections, ask questions, and brainstorm ways to support our children together.
Event Details
Date: Thursday, April 16, 2026
Time: 8 a.m.
Location: Solis Park Auditorium (right after drop off).
