As a Supervising Deputy Attorney General with the California Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Enforcement Section, Vilma protects and defends the rights of immigrant Californians every single day.

Meet Melina Duarte, our new Chapter Vice President and the speaker for our upcoming event, New Year, Nueva Tú: Maximizing Networking Opportunities! 🎉 A passionate leader and strategist, Melina is dedicated to empowering others and making an impact.

Melina Duarte is a seasoned consultant who connects organizations and individuals with tailored strategies and solutions. Her expertise spans organizational development, branding, board development, donor cultivation, public relations, and managing high-profile clients and events. On top of all that, she’s a seasoned political strategist, passionate about empowering progressive candidates and campaigns with bold messaging and smart strategies.

Before launching her consultancy, Melina worked at the University of California, where she played a key role in creating and implementing COSMOS (California State Summer School for Mathematics & Science).

She is also the founder of a cultural and lifestyle brand that celebrates strength and pride among Latinas. Through her work, she inspires women—especially young women of color—to embrace their heritage, own their power, and pursue their dreams unapologetically..

Now back in the Coachella Valley full-time, Melina is deeply committed to giving back to her community through volunteerism, philanthropy, and supporting local businesses. She’s a proud graduate of Coachella Valley High School ( ) and UC Irvine, a self-proclaimed tech geek, and an adventurous traveler at heart. Whether she’s strategizing for a campaign, mentoring future leaders, or exploring the world, Melina is all about making an impact.
