9.1.2026 - The Student Nurses Association is sponsoring a blood drive with the American Red Cross! Sign up with the link to select an appointment time.

Kindness looks good on all of us, and in September it comes with a little extra sparkle. Join us for a Hello Kitty and Friends x American Red Cross blood drive at Ohio University Southern on Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Riffe Center Rotunda, 1804 Liberty Avenue, Ironton.

Every donation given here has the chance to help a neighbor, a classmate or someone right here in the tri-state. Bring a photo ID or donor card. Give blood, platelets or AB Elite plasma anytime Sept. 1-20 and you'll receive an exclusive Red Cross x Hello Kitty plush mascot clip and sticker pack while supplies last.

🎓 Graduate Spotlight: Amillia Howard
Associate Degree in Nursing

Growing up in a community where she witnessed the effects of addiction firsthand, Amillia Howard saw the impact it can have on individuals, families, and the community as a whole. That experience inspired her to pursue nursing and become part of creating positive change.

Now she's graduating with her nursing degree and plans to continue her education at Ohio University to earn her BSN. She credits her mom for the consistent support and love that gave her the strength and confidence to reach this point.

Her advice to incoming students? Stay on top of your schoolwork, but take care of yourself.

🎓 Graduate Spotlight: Anna Brady
Associate Degree in Nursing

Anna Brady has been helping others her whole life. As a little girl, she helped care for her mother, who is deaf and has cerebral palsy, and she always knew she wanted to help people. After 20 years as a nurse's aide, she decided it was time to grow in that passion.

Now she's graduating with her nursing degree, with her heart set on geriatric nursing. She credits her fiancé, her daughter, and her daughter's grandma for believing in her when she didn't believe in herself.

Her advice to incoming students? Don't give up on your dreams. It doesn't matter how long it takes to achieve them, as long as you're doing it.

🎓 Graduate Spotlight: Gracie Hunt
Associate of Applied Science in Nursing

Gracie Hunt's path to nursing began while caring for her grandpa after his open-heart surgery. Being there during such a vulnerable time showed her that nursing is about more than physical care. It's about comfort, encouragement, education, and genuine compassion during the most difficult moments of a person's life.

Now she's graduating and beginning her career at Southern Ohio Medical Center on the Progressive Care Unit. She credits Dr. Clement for her guidance and support, and her best friend Kerri Jenkins for being by her side through every study session, exam, and clinical day.

Her advice to incoming students? Believe in yourself and never let self-doubt convince you that you are not capable of succeeding.

🎓 Graduate Spotlight: Brookelyn Coy
Associate Degree in Nursing

Nursing runs in Brookelyn Coy's family. During her sophomore year of high school, she decided to follow in the footsteps of her mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. After seven years out of school and two beautiful babies, she knew it was time to make it happen.

She chose Ohio University Southern because it was where her dad went, and the nursing program didn't disappoint. She says all the professors truly want you to be the best nurse you can be. After graduation, she plans to study for the NCLEX and start full time as a Mother-Baby nurse at Marshall Health Network - Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Her advice to incoming students? Never be afraid to ask questions. No matter how big or small you may think the question is, someone else has the same one.
