An enormous loss for the community. He was and always will be Irondequoit lacrosse, he set the standard. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and the countless people he impacted throughout his life. Thank you Coach Lisi, for everything. A true legend.

The West Irondequoit CSD extends its deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Ernie Lisi, who died on Saturday. He was 95. Mr. Lisi was one of the forefathers of lacrosse at Irondequoit High School and in Section V. He coached the IHS boys to 22 championships, including two sectional titles, from 1961-77, and had an outstanding record of 211 wins and just 19 losses. A Geneva native and a Marine Corps veteran, he was a mathematics teacher at IHS. He would go on to coach at the University of Rochester.

Mr. Lisi molded 13 IHS players who became high school All-Americans and was voted Coach of the Year three times by the U.S. Lacrosse Coaches Association. He was inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1984 and the Rochester Chapter of the U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Fame of 1992. A standout in football, track and field and lacrosse, Mr. Lisi is also a member of Halls of Fame at his alma maters, Geneva HS and Hobart College. He played lacrosse and football at Hobart.

Congratulations Sam and Cooper on earning first team AGR, great earned accomplishment!!! Congratulations to our fellow Irondequoit athletes on their AGR selection as well, great work!

CONGRATS! The Democrat and Chronicle announced its Spring All-Greater Rochester teams Tuesday and five Irondequoit athletes were first-team selections and one was second team. On the first team:

⭐Baseball: Landon Bryan
⭐Boys lacrosse: Cooper Moore & Sam Thore
⭐Girls lacrosse: Ellie Bottiglier & Lucy Whipple

Second team for girls lax was goalie, Mia Conine. Mia and Ellie are going to be seniors. Lucy will be a junior. Cooper (Westpoint), Sam (Mercyhurst) and Landon (Clarkson) are seniors. Congrats and good luck to our seniors!
