We’re honored to announce that Shootin Starzz Institute is officially a 501(c)3 recognized Public Charity and has been selected as a 2026 ArtsBloom Grant Awardee! ⭐️

This support helps us continue our mission of creating healing-centered opportunities through modeling, acting, fashion, and media arts while empowering creatives to build confidence, develop professional skills, and find their inner light.

Our Director Mecca Starzz left Rochester seeking opportunity. Today SSI is creating it. Not just for her, but for every other creative that deserves a pathway for their talent, right in their hometown.

Thank you City of Rochester for being the first to fund our organization. We are truly thankful 🙏🏾✨

This year, we’re excited to present our 3rd Annual Showcase, Resurrection: The Rise of a Star, sponsored by ESL Rochester Fringe Festival and the City of Rochester . This production celebrates growth, healing, resilience, and the transformative power of creativity through fashion, performance, and storytelling.

This showcase is co-sponsored by ArtsBloom, part of the City of Rochester’s Percent for the Arts Program.

Thank you WAYO 104.3 FM for inviting our Director Mecca Starzz to talk about Shootin Starzz Institute 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Let’s take a trip down memory lane and look at the work we’ve actually done in the community. ✨

2021 — We held our first model call and nobody showed up.

2022 — We ran it back, launched The Model Club, and welcomed our first 3 students while breaking into Fashion Show Coordination and Designing.

2023 — We expanded into acting and successfully graduated 6 students from our first Model & Acting Program and produced our very first showcase at the Rochester Fringe Festival.

2024 — Our Director took a pause to welcome new life into the world.

2025 — We bounced right back, graduating 10 students from our newly named Model & Acting Advancement Program (MAAP) and produced another two Fashion Showcases.

2026 — Shootin Starzz Institute officially became incorporated and have our 3rd Annual Rochester Fringe Showcase happening Sept 2026 🚀✨

The journey wasn’t always easy. There were pivots, pauses, lessons, and growth along the way. But through every season, the mission remained the same: helping creatives discover their inner light through creativity, healing, education, and hands-on experiences.

The path wasn’t always straight, but it always led toward the light. ✨
