The heat did not stop us from having fun on the farm the last 3 days!
Highlights from Farm to Table:
🌾Wheat-Campers got to learn all about the wheat crop and peel apart the seeds out of the pods. Then we learned about how we harvest wheat with the combine, with understand how it runs. And to end the lesson with making home made soft pretzels from scratch.
🌽Corn- Learned about the importance and different types of corn grown here in Wisconsin. We took a "field" trip out to the corn field to learn about the plant growing process. We took a closer look at cobs of corn to count the kernels. All corn cobs will have an even number of rows as corn only multiples by 2. We ended with playing with oobleck.
🐐Goat Soap- We made goat soap after hearing about how goats milk can be used in multiple ways...as in many soaps. Campers got to make there own soap bars in differnt molds.
🐃Beef- We want to thank, Katie, from the Hartford FFA for coming to camp to speak on all these beef. She had so many fun learning activities for the campers to better understand the feeding of beef, different breeds, and different by products from beef.
