Please come join us! All are welcome!
Today we pulled out the school’s cassette tape listening centers! Most schools have thrown these away since they are “vintage” technology, but our students loved listening to books on tape, Bible in Living Sound or Your Story Hour stories today. They are easy for students to operate on their own and give students who aren’t reading yet access to books read aloud without an adult to read to them. Plus, despite being “old technology” to the adults, they are brand new technology to our younger students, who had never heard of cassette tapes until today!
We enjoyed some water play this week!
PMCS staff spent last Thursday re-certifying in adult and pediatric first aid and CPR. We hope to never have to use these skills, but we are glad to be able to be good stewards of the trust families have placed in us if the need ever arises!
We are pleased to share that we are now a two-teacher school! Mrs. Rosalie Rasmussen brings over 40 years of teaching experience to our school. She has a heart for sharing Jesus’ love with young people and a desire to see them succeed in all God has called them to do. Please come to our back-to-school picnic on August 10 at 6 p.m. to welcome her!
Having two teachers gives us additional open seats for this coming year. There are only three weeks until school starts! Share with your friends, your family, your neighbors and your coworkers.
Did you hear? PMCS has more than doubled enrollment over the summer! We are purchasing more supplies, more curriculum and more teacher items to accommodate our growing student body and growing staff. Here is our Amazon wishlist for your consideration if you feel able. Thank you for your prayers and support as we endeavor to serve the needs of the church and community!

PMCS is pleased to announce our intent to open another classroom to meet the needs of our growing school family! We are blessed with a beautiful facility that can accommodate two classrooms and feel privileged to work with a growing enrollment of young people. Please pray our school board as interviews for another staff member are conducted.
Please tell your friends and family that we are still enrolling! Thank you for your support!
Fun fact about Pine Mountain Christian School #2:
Students are taught in small groups using hands-on materials, and work is checked by the teacher in real time. We call this "failproof" learning! No one falls through the cracks. Learning is assessed constantly so adjustments can be made to the lessons to meet students' needs right then and there.
We are still enrolling for grades K-8! Check out pinemountainchristianschool.com for more information, or send me a message!
PMCS: Where Jesus is never absent!
Fun fact about Pine Mountain Christian School:
Students are placed into curriculum by ability and academic need, not grade level or age. This allows us to tailor an academic program for every single child. For example, a ten-year-old enrolled in fifth grade might be placed into level 4 math (with supports to get them up to fifth grade level!), level 5 grammar, level 7 spelling, and level 6 reading comprehension. No problem! Every child gets a program tailored to their own specific needs. Wish your child could have an academic program planned just for them? Contact us for more info or check out pinemountainchristianschool.com.
PMCS: Where Jesus is Never Absent!
We are blessed to have a mix of "brand new" and "tried and true". The variety makes learning more fun, allows us to utilize resources we still have rather than spending on new stuff just for the sake of new, and helps us customize our teaching methods to meet the needs and interests of our students. New isn't always better! By utilizing older resources that don't need updating, we can spend on new technology that really does improve learning in areas that really count. As a side note, today is pajama day! What fun!
***HOMESCHOOL FAMILIES***
(and anyone else who is interested!)
Pine Mountain Christian School will offer MAP testing to interested families with students in grades K-10. NWEA MAP assessments measure your child's academic achievement compared to national norms and give you valuable information about your child's progress, areas of strengths and areas of weaknesses. They can help you decide whether your child is ready for advanced work or needs remediation. If you plan to later enroll your child in a co-op, private or public school, or online program, MAP tests help you understand whether your child is on track. Finally, MAP testing can help reassure you that your selected curriculum or program is effective.
Testing will occur on May 11 and 12 (one week from today!), so registering right away is important. Registration for MAP testing will close on Monday, May 9 (in just a few days).
The following tests are offered:
Grades K & 1: Reading, Math
Grade 2: Reading, Math, Language Usage
Grades 3-12: Reading, Math, Language Usage, Science
The cost per assessment is $10. Testing will occur at PMCS on Pine Mountain Road. Parents may drop off their students or wait in the hall until testing is completed. The fee includes the testing session as well as help with understanding the results and planning for your child's academic needs, if desired.
Please PM ASAP with questions or to register. You may also text me at 715.544.7502.
Did you know? PMCS is on the radio! Our radio ad campaign culminates with the sale of 2 partial-tuition waivers for next school year. New families are eligible to purchase the waivers, which are good for $1200 off next year's tuition (50% savings!). You can find them at 906bigdeals.com. Select "Services" and scroll down to Pine Mountain Christian School. Then click "add to cart"! Please text or call me prior to bidding to ensure your child is eligible to enroll and there is space in your desired grade level: 715.544.7502.
Visit our updated website at pinemountainchristianschool.com. The "supporters" page includes lots of ways that your family can help support our school. Many of the options are free to you but mean money for the school! Please have a look.

“Feed the hungry and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as day.
