The seniors enjoyed their day at Bewabic State Park for the annual Senior Picnic yesterday. Students played a variety of yard games, ate some delicious food, and relaxed!

Thanks Mrs. Maycunich! The North Elementary third grade teacher coached students who had an upcoming Little League game and had a talk with them on confidence when approaching the plate. She took the time to crumple up some paper as baseballs and pitched to the students, who used a ruler as a bat.

In honor of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, May 9th through the NEW EXTENDED DATE OF May 25th, containers will be in K-6 classrooms and 7-12 fifth hour classrooms for a PENNY WAR organized by BeNice.
One penny=one point. Anything larger than a penny is NEGATIVE points! For example, a nickel cancels out 5 pennies. 500 pennies cancels out a 5 dollar bill. Sabotaging is allowed and encouraged!
All proceeds will be donated to a local mental health resource in the community chosen by the students. The class with the most points wins a surprise treat!

First grader Reid Hicks and second grader Colt Hicks received a special surprise this morning at North Elementary School. Their father, Air Force Technical Sergeant Taylor Hicks has been stationed in Utah for two years, and surprised his two sons by coming to their school! Reid and Colt were speechless! THANK YOU to the 80+ Mountaineer Volunteers who dedicated their time this weekend to the North Elementary School Playground Build! We did it!
It was a long two days of digging, hauling, carrying, constructing, and problem-solving. It was not an easy task, and the efforts of our amazing community are much appreciated by the staff and students of Iron Mountain Public Schools. Laelonii always treats everybody in class with respect, and kindness. She gives great effort during class, and sets a great example for everybody else. Laelonii takes great pride in her work and the finished product. She utilizes her time wisely and treats all students with respect. She is a great asset to have in any of her classes.
