Hi everyone!
Just a quick reminder to eat before coming to rehearsal—we want everyone feeling their best and ready to go! Staying fueled and hydrated really makes a difference, so don’t forget to bring water and drink plenty throughout the day.
Also, energy drinks aren’t allowed in the band hall at any time.
Parents, please note: if a student is found with one before or during rehearsal, they’ll be asked to throw it away right then and there.

Starting Monday 8/11/25:
The Band Hall is Going Device-Free!
To help everyone stay focused and minimize distractions, the band hall will become a cell phone–free zone. This includes:
• Mobile phones
• Smartwatches
• Laptops
• iPads/tablets
• AirPods and earbuds
These items won’t be allowed in the band hall at any time—that means before school, during the day, after school, after football games, on contest days, or any other time students are in the band hall.
If your student needs to contact you, they’re welcome to step outside to make a call or use the front office phone. Please note: students will not be able to make personal calls from the band office phone during the school day.
Thanks for helping us keep the band hall a focused and distraction-free space for everyone!

This issue is non-negotiable as it is rooted in a new state law. Please note, if we see it... We WILL TAKE IT. No exceptions, no second chances, no oops I forgot.
Thanks so much for helping us create a focused, energized, and distraction-free space for all our students!

Dear Parents,

Sometimes, unexpected changes in the schedule arise, but we’re committed to adapting and making the most of each opportunity for the growth and success of your student. We’re excited to share that we have a confirmed after-school practice scheduled from 4 to 6 PM at the high school stadium. This is a fantastic opportunity, and we’re so grateful for it! We would absolutely LOVE for you to join us if you’re able—it’s always a joy and an inspiration to have your support in the stands.

We are also deeply thankful for our superintendent, principals, and school board members; whose steadfast support of your students and our band program truly makes a difference. Their dedication to our tradition of excellence is invaluable, and we’re fortunate to have such a remarkable team supporting us.

Thank you all for being such an important part of this journey with us!

Dear Band Parents,

We are so grateful for all the ways you support the band! As part of the district's new efforts to ensure student safety, we kindly ask that all parent volunteers go to the MGM2 band app and complete the attached form. Once filled out, please email it to Dr. Bradberry at [email protected] as soon as possible.

We understand this is a new process for everyone, so we appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work through these changes together. If you volunteer with multiple organizations, you'll only need to submit one form. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe and our band program thriving!

**A Huge Congratulations to the 2024 Iowa Park High School Symphonic Band!**

We are thrilled to announce that your Hawk Band has earned a prestigious spot in the 2024 Outstanding Performance Band Series State competition. AND... they advanced to the state with not just one, but TWO sections!

Competing with "The Big Cage March" by Karl King, they secured an impressive 5th place finish, and with "Give Us This Day" by David Maslanka, they achieved a 10th place finish. This is a phenomenal accomplishment, and we couldn't be prouder of our students!

Their dedication and hard work shine through, having prepared over 26 minutes of music to perfection. Please take a moment to visit the MGM2 page and share your appreciation for these incredible students.

Our band truly embodies the Spirit, Pride, and Honor of our community.

Congratulations to all who participated, and thank you for showing us why you are, without a doubt, the best band in the land!

It's always a Great Day to Be a Hawk!

IPHS Band Family - Warning EXTREMELY LONG POST

On September 12, 1962, President Kennedy outlined a new direction for the country. In his address to the nation, Kennedy set the United States of America on a trajectory that would eventually culminate in man landing on the moon. This goal seemed audacious and immensely challenging, leading many to doubt its feasibility. Some even questioned Kennedy's motives, accusing him of pursuing this monumental task for personal or political gain. However, even in the wake of his passing, Kennedy's leadership and vision endured, paving the way for the historic achievement on July 20, 1969, a mere 66 years after the first human took flight.
With this being said, your IPHS wind ensemble will play its UIL concert contest selections next Monday, April 1st, at 6:00 pm at the high school auditorium. This concert is a culmination of years of planning and many hours of hard work and dedication by your students. As directors, we put forth to your students a vision and put in place a plan to help them achieve these goals. By doing so your students have shifted the entire culture and atmosphere of the band program in Iowa Park. This change did not happen overnight. This vision and series of following events were set into motion over 3 years ago. This year’s parent concert and the following contest will be the highlight of that vision.
In recent years, your students have been exposed to, learned, and performed some of the most challenging musical literature available. Some have questioned the necessity and suitability of this path, deeming it too difficult for your students. However, since embarking on this new journey, your students have not only met the challenge but have also garnered recognition from individuals across the state and the nation. As a highlight of this recognition, your students in 2022 earned an invitation to participate in the 76th Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois which is a highly prestigious honor. In addition to receiving numerous sweepstakes awards, they have also maintained the standard of excellence set forth and upheld by some of you, including those reading this, for over 42 years.
We say all this so you will understand exactly what your students have gone through over the past few years. A wise man once said, “Preparation is the mother, and willpower is the grandmother, of success”. True success is not defined by external factors but by internal measures. Your students are not a success because of something a judge or critique may say or do. They are successful because they did what they needed to do when they needed to do it.
As we move forward we will not now, or ever, allow outside factors to determine our self-worth or happiness. We will take pride and find value in the work that was done, the focus that was achieved, and the preparation that was put into each and every note. We challenged your students. We made choices. We knew it would be difficult. However, we will not focus on the results, ratings, or thoughts of others, but trust in our preparation and the commitment to our journey because, "preparation wins no matter the rating or score". You may ask, “Why did you choose this path”?

Simple....

We chose to do this, not because it was easy, but because it WAS HARD!

Please consider coming to WFHS on April 3rd at 1:55pm to see and hear what the IPHS band has been preparing.

Thank you,
Mr. Bradberry
