The Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) at the University of Iowa is a student-run group comprised of undergraduate and graduate students in the Doctor of Audiology Program. Our SAA group works to serve as a collective voice for the 36 million Americans that have some type of hearing problem, and works to advance the rights, interests, and welfare of these individuals. We work to achieve this goal

CODA takes home THREE Oscars, including BEST FILM! 👋👋 Ruby is the only hearing member of a deaf family from Gloucester, Massachusetts. At 17, she works mornings before school to help her parents and brother keep their fishing business afloat. But in joining her high school's choir club, Ruby finds herself drawn to both her duet partner and her latent passion for singing.🏆
This was the first Acadamy Awards to offer live ASL translation videos-streams. Looking to have this present at all award shows in the future, and hopefully right on the stage👋

“What inside the Anechoic Chamber???”
An Anechoic Chamber is a room designed to absorb all sound so as to eliminate all echoes; it’s used for research on hearing and sensory deprivation.
The Anechoic Chamber at The University of Iowa’s Wendell Johnson Clinic was constructed nearly half a century ago and is still an exciting experience for our students!

It’s time for our Second Annual Walk for Hearing! Last year we started this event as a way to stay involved with SAA while still navigating the pandemic. We are excited to continue the fundraiser this year and raise even more for our Hearing Aid Fund! 🦻🏽
