The University of Iowa Radiation Sciences Sponsored by University of Iowa Health Care in cooperation with the university's Carver College of Medicine and the Department of Radiology.

Affiliated with University of Iowa Health Care, a leading public university teaching hospital. The Baccalaureate Program in Radiation Sciences at the University of Iowa serves as the only program in the state with a multicompetent major in radiologic technology, diagnostic medical sonography, and radiation therapy.

Tell us about your current position:
As a Health Physicist with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Radiological Health, I conduct annual inspections of mammography facilities throughout Iowa, including both MQSA and State of Iowa inspections of mammography and stereotactic breast biopsy services. My role focuses on evaluating compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements, helping ensure that patients throughout Iowa have access to safe, high-quality breast imaging services.

Although I now work outside of direct patient care, I am still able to contribute to breast imaging from a different perspective. My role may look different today, but my passion for mammography and the patients it serves remains the same.

Why did you choose the University of Iowa?
I chose the University of Iowa because it offered an exceptional radiologic technology program that allowed me to earn a degree while receiving an excellent education and strong clinical foundation. I knew the education and experience I received at the University of Iowa would prepare me for future career opportunities and continued professional growth.
I have been and always will be proud to be a Hawkeye! 🖤💛
