"Hi everyone!! My name is Neve Schilling, and I’m a sophomore at the University of Iowa studying Management and Human Development, with a possible minor in Psychology. My current goal is to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)! I’ve always loved working with kids and am passionate about making a positive impact in their lives. 🤝💛 LEARNING ABOUT FRIENDSHIP! 💛🤝

This week at Lionheart, our little learners are exploring what it means to be a good friend! As children grow and learn together, they’re discovering that friendship is about so much more than playing together—it’s about learning how to care for, communicate with, and respect the people around us.

Through stories, conversations, songs, dramatic play, and hands-on activities, our children are practicing:

🌟 Using kind and caring words
🤝 Sharing and taking turns
💬 Listening to others
❤️ Recognizing and talking about feelings
🙌 Helping and encouraging one another
🧸 Including others in play
✨ Learning how to work through little challenges together

Friendship skills help children develop important social-emotional skills that they will use throughout childhood and beyond. We love watching our classrooms become places where children can learn, grow, and practice being thoughtful members of their community!

🤝💛 NEXT WEEK: FRIENDSHIP & INDEPENDENCE! 💛🌟

Next week, our classrooms will be focusing on two very important skills: building friendships and learning how to do things ourselves!

As our children continue getting comfortable in their classrooms, we’ll be learning what it means to be a good friend while also discovering the confidence that comes from doing things independently. 🥰

Through play, stories, songs, conversations, and hands-on activities, our children will practice:

🤝 Sharing, taking turns, and playing together
💬 Using kind words and communicating with friends
❤️ Recognizing and expressing feelings
🧸 Helping others and being a good classroom friend
🙌 Trying things independently before asking for help
👟 Practicing everyday self-help skills
🌟 Building confidence by saying, “I can do it!”

Learning to make friends and learning to do things independently are both important steps in growing up. We’re excited to encourage our little learners to be kind, be helpful, try new things, and believe in themselves! 💕
