Congratulations to our very own Courtney Ries for graduating this past weekend with a BA in biology and minors in computer science and dance. Courtney joined the lab in 2021 and has been a key member of our wet lab and team ever since. In the future, Courtney wants to work in the data science field. The Michaelson Lab is so proud of you, Courtney, and we cannot wait to see all you accomplish!!

Twice exceptional youth—children who have a diagnosis of autism and who also have exceptional cognitive ability—are at increased the risk of suicidal thoughts, according to a recent study by researchers at the University of Iowa.

A new study that used genetic data from nearly 43,000 autistic individuals and their families has identified 60 autism spectrum-associated genes with exome-wide significance, including five new genes not previously implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders.
