Come check out the awesome West Liberty Jazz Band as well as all three of our West High jazz bands tonight! We will be playing downtown outside of the Graduate Hotel. West Liberty kicks things off at 6:30.

Did a thing today!!!!

Can’t begin to express the pride we have for these students this evening……. They were absolutely phenomenal!

We are just two days away from Wind Ensemble's performance at the Iowa Bandmasters Association conference! The Foundation for the Iowa City Community School District has been kind enough to draft and house a fundraiser for the ICCSD bands that are performing this week. Money raised will go towards offsetting the cost of transporting students and instruments to Des Moines. Thank you in advance for donating and/or sharing the fundraiser page!

We are fortunate to have world-class veena artist Jayashree Aravind (middle), vocalist Anugrah Pakshmanan (right), and percussionist Ashwin Subramaniyan (left) here from India. They are performing and discussing traditional south-Indian music for our 9th grade students during 2nd period!

Jazz Collective is entertaining the crowd this morning at the ICCSD Foundation breakfast. Thank you to the Foundation for everything that they support across our entire district!!!

Wind Ensemble’s final full rehearsal prior to IBA! (Two weeks of AP testing will pull random amounts of kids out each day over the next two weeks). Choir tour Thursday/Friday, prom Saturday, and they are still here working hard on a Sunday night.

If you aren’t coming to Des Moines on 5/15, come watch their send-off concert with Northwest Junior High Bands - ICCSD 8th Grade Band on Tuesday, May 12 at 6:30pm in the Arganbright Auditorium.

We’re having a great time hosting the SEIBA Elementary Honor Band here at West High today. HUGE shoutout to all of the awesome elementary band directors in the building!

Join us this Wednesday evening for our inaugural WHS Music Department Showcase Concert. The top student ensemble from Orchestra, Band, and Choir will all perform. This is a wonderful collaborative effort to highlight the best that West has to offer.
