Congratulations to Darryl Moton on receiving a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to Bahrain for the 2026β27 academic year! ππ
Originally from Ames, Iowa, Darryl is completing a combined graduate degree program in library and information science (MA) and a PhD in English. He began graduate school at 41, after working in UI Central Sterilization Services.
βI thought something like a Fulbright was out of reach for someone like meβ¦ I guess the moral of the story is, never be afraid to reach for the stars, even if you're reaching from the basement.β

Last week, we were honored to welcome Dr. Hamid Khalaf Ahmed, advisor to the Iraqi prime minister, and David Hamod, President and CEO of the National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC), to campus. During their visit, Russ Ganim signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Iraqβs Higher Committee for Education Development, celebrating our growing partnership π

Congratulations to Monica Correia, professor of 3D design in the University of Iowa School of Art, Art History, and Design, on receiving a prestigious Fulbright Scholar Award to France! π«π·
Through this international collaboration, Correia will work with researchers at ENSAIT and the University of Lille to explore innovative, sustainable textile manufacturing methods that reduce waste and advance design. We can't wait to see the global impact of her work.

Congratulations to Emma Anderson (BA international relations and political science β25), of Boone, Iowa, on receiving a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) award to Tajikistan for 2026β27 πΉπ―
Emma was awarded a 2025 U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to study Persian last summer in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Her time in-country, inspired her to pursue a Fulbright.
