Last week, we hosted a visit with Workplace Learning Connections, for a group with Bettendorf High School. This group of students was able to learn about Carver College of Medicine admissions, work with activities in the nursing simulation lab, and explore the hyperbaric chamber at University of Iowa Health Care’s main campus hospital. We would like to thank Workplace Learning Connections and all of the volunteers for their help during this visit.

Tour and learn about our new North Liberty campus and enjoy activities for the whole family, including sports challenges, STEM activities, tours, Hawkeye Athlete Meet and Greet, food trucks, giveaways, and more! Recently, students from West Liberty High School iJAG participated in a high school STEM visit. Here, they were able to hear from multiple professionals in a variety of careers. They learned about child life, nursing, and anesthesia. Students also had the opportunity to tour the Air Care region of the downtown campus hospital. We would like to thank all our participants and volunteers for making this event possible!

A couple of weeks ago, our STEM team hosted a radiation sciences visit with Workplace Learning Connections. Here, students from multiple high schools around Iowa were able to tour the radiation sciences areas of our downtown campus hospital. They learned about the radiation sciences careers, watched live demonstrations of different radiation sciences modalities, and participated in a question-and-answer session with current radiation sciences students. Thank you to Workplace Learning Connections and radiation sciences for making this event possible!

A couple of weeks ago, our STEM team hosted Workplace Connection’s Nursing Day. Here, high school students explored a variety of careers in nursing and interacted with professionals in the nursing department. They learned about the daily life of a nurse and got to tour the Nursing Clinical Education Center. We would like to thank our volunteers, students, and Workplace Learning Connections for helping making visits like these possible.

Last week, our STEM team partnered with Workplace Learning Connections to host Junior Medical School Day. Here, students from schools across the county were able to experience what it is like to be a medical student as they learned about the admissions process to medical school, practiced diagnosing patients, and explored human anatomy with University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine students. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Workplace Learning Connections for making this event possible and to the students for attending this event!
