Baishali Bhaumik received a 2026 Stanley Award for International Research to support her summer research in India.

Baishali is a PhD student in Anthropology advised by Dr. Meena Khandelwal. Her research explores gendered labor, environmental precarity, feminist political economy, and human–animal relationships in the Sundarbans, with attention to reproductive health, informal labor, s*x work, and ecological governance.

Corinne Watts was the recipient of a UI Graduate College Summer Fellowship for 2026 in support of his dissertation research.

Corinne is a sixth-year archaeology graduate student under the advisement of Dr. Katina Lillios. She explores questions of origin and authenticity in recently created megalithic sites, specifically through the Indonesian standing stones at Harvest Preserve in Iowa City.

Doctoral student Kyle Bikowski was the recipient of a UI Graduate College Summer Fellowship for 2026 in support of his dissertation research.

Kyle is working with a group of Gaymers (Gay-gamers) in Querétaro, Mexico. Kyle’s project focus on how joy, fun, and play serve as means and methods to form, perform, and maintain q***r identities in digital and analog places.

Victoria Priola has successfully defended her doctoral dissertation, entitled "Tracing the Threads of Copper Age Textile Production: From Fragmented Loom Weights to Regional Interactions in Southwestern Iberia," and will be awarded her PhD this semester.
