Recently, The University of Iowa Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (ICTS) Clinical Research Unit (CRU) underwent an FDA inspection as part of a clinical trial for the new oral medication, Fabhalta, aimed at treating ultra-rare C3 glomerulopathy (C3G). 💊 😷 🎉

Last week we celebrated Debra O'Connell-Moore's final day on the ICTS team ❤️

Deb has been a long-time member of the ICTS Regulatory team, where she has supported countless IRB applications, assisted clinical trial proceedings in being successful, and more. Deb’s impact cannot be overstated, and we feel pretty lucky to have had her on the team. We wish her nothing but success in her new role!

Earlier this year, the BMI team played an integral role in helping the Iowa Neuropathology Resource Laboratory compete for a contract with the NIH NeuroBioBank. The University of Iowa's Brain Bank was selected as the seventh member of the NIH Brain Bank network. 🧠

With a short turnaround time, the BMI team built the study and established integration requirements for UI BioShare, the laboratory information system at Iowa that helps to track, search, and find samples in a centralized capacity, which is a requirement to garner a contract with the NIH NeuroBioBank.

Last week, members of our team attended the Association for Clinical and Translational Science Conference. Our team members had the opportunity to learn from leaders in the clinical and translational space, meet with groups of like-minded individuals to discuss their own projects and ideas, and some of our K12 scholars presented their own research. 📚 💗

Join us this Thursday, April 2nd, for the Institute for Clinical and Translational Science Clinical Lecture Series to hear about and discuss ”Biomedical Informatics Service and Tools for Research from 12:00-1:00 p.m. via Zoom.
