Science Thursdays Science Thursdays is part of a CCOM Community Enhancement Program featuring music, food, science, medicine and wellness based activities.

Everyone working, learning, and volunteering with UI Health Care is invited to Science Thursdays, a program for the summer months, taking place every Thursday from May through September, 11am to 1pm, in the courtyard between the Medical Education Research Facility (MERF) and Pappajohn Biomedical Discovery Building (PBDB). Featured will be several food trucks with a diverse array of menu items for

purchase, local musicians, and a science-related activity. A schedule of activities can be found on Facebook and the website.

The State Hygienic Laboratory is Iowa’s environmental and public health laboratory, serving all 99 counties by testing and tracking infectious diseases and illnesses; performing newborn and maternal screening; and monitoring the air, water and soil for environmental contaminants. Come learn more and complete trivia questions for prizes!

Stop by the HCCC & American Cancer Society Hope Lodge booth to learn about the Hope Lodge program, which provides free lodging for cancer patients who travel an hour or more for treatment. They also offer free onsite laundry, an exercise room, kitchen, EMPOWER events, and additional support services. You'll also have the opportunity to learn about American Cancer Society resources and volunteer opportunities.
