Established in 1974, The University of Iowa Department of Biomedical Engineering is one of the original biomedical engineering programs in the country.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at The University of Iowa was established in the Fall of 1974. Since that time, there has been a phenomenal growth in the undergraduate enrollment.
