Yesterday, we competed in Tri-owa — our first triathlon of 2023! The race included a 500 yard pool swim, 8 mile stationary bike, and 2 mile treadmill run at the University of Iowa Rec Center. 🏊🏻‍♀️ 🚲 🏃🏾

Highlights included: a third place finish from Valerie Passanisi among collegiate women; first-time triathlon completions from Oscar Waldman, Lori Lin, Mia Phutrakul, and Tomas Salazar; top 20 finishes from Ben Coulter, Riley Silfies, and Myles Feingold-Black among collegiate men; and a top two 2-mile run for the entire race by Max Melton.🏅

We’re grateful for for hosting an awesome race, and we enjoyed connecting with athletes from the region! 🎉

Hey, we can’t wait to start a new school year! 🥳 Here’s our schedule for practices and events for the week:

Monday, August 29 at 8:30 pm is swim practice at Sumers Rec Center. Go downstairs and down the hall to find the pool 🐠

Tuesday, August 30 at 5 pm is our team ride, which starts at the bike shed behind the Hillel House 🚲

Wednesday, August 31 at 6 pm is our team run starting outside Sumers Rec Center 🐆

Finally, Friday September 2 from 3-5 pm is the Activities Fair. Stop by Mudd Field to say hey and learn more about us!!

On Sunday, we competed in Rookies & Rockstars Triathlon — our final race of the semester! The race included a 400M serpentine swim in an Olympic size pool, windy 19.5 mile bike, and 3k trail run. 🏊🏻‍♀️ 🚲 🏃🏾

Amongst the 11 athletes on our team who finished the race, we received four top three age-group awards: Clara Richards (3rd in F14-19), Andrew Waldherr (1st in M20-24), Tong Wu (2nd in M20-24), and Tyler Frank (3rd in M25-29). 🏅

We had fun seeing old and new faces and enjoyed connecting with athletes from the region. We already cannot wait until the fall semester resumes! 🥳🥳

USAT Collegiate Club National Championships at Lake Lanier, GA is only a few days away! Keep an eye on our page and story for upcoming practices and updates on the MTR and Olympic races. 🏊🏾‍♂️ 🚲 🏃🏻‍♀️

Still on a high from Tri WashU this past Saturday! The Midwest Collegiate Triathlon Conference, alums of WashU, and regional age-group competitors raced in a 750y pool swim, 10 mile bike in the spin room, and 5k run on the outdoor track. 🏊🚲🏃‍♂️

Every collegiate athlete that participated qualified for USAT Collegiate Club National Championships at Lake Lanier, GA on April 1-2. Two years since the last Tri WashU, we are happy to race again and see new and old faces. 😌

On Saturday, we raced in Badger Tri in Madison, WI! The Wisconsin Triathlon Team and Indoorance Athletic Club hosted a fun event with a 500y swim in an endless pool, 8 mile bike on a smart trainer, and 5k treadmill run. 🏊🚲🏃‍♂️

Tamy Sanchez-Ortiz and Valerie Passanisi placed 1st and 4th, respectively, for the women overall! Everyone on the team that participated qualified for USAT Collegiate Club National Championships at Lake Lanier, GA in April. 🥳
