Today, a few EnCo members had the privilege of attending the 2022 Annual Iowa Organic Conference 🥔🍇🥦🥕🌽 Thank you for providing us with this opportunity! We had the pleasure of hearing from many intelligent individuals on a broad range of topics including the keynote speaker Dr. Rattan Lal, Professor of Soil Science at Ohio State University, who talked about regenerative agriculture as it pertains to climate change and food security. Some key information from his slides is pictured in our post. We also got to hear from members of the Coralville Community Food Pantry, Table to Table, and Iowa Valley RC&D talk about food justice within our local food system, which was really awe inspiring and informative. We heard from Neil Hamilton, Professor Emeritus at Drake University who talked about stewardship in Iowa and his new book, “The Land Remains.” Lastly we attended a talk on Co2, wind, and solar energy given by a local farmer and a member of the Iowa Environmental Council, which provided information about current renewable energy efforts in Iowa! Our favorite part though was definitely the beautiful all organic, locally grown lunch pictured in our post😉 It was definitely a great precursor to Thanksgiving this week! 🦃Overall the Iowa Organic Conference was incredibly informative and we were grateful for the opportunity to attend. 🥰
