Have a research idea with real-world potential? Session 2 of the NSF I-Corps Workshop is now accepting applications.

This four-session customer discovery program helps University of Iowa faculty, staff, grad students, and STEM founders test the commercial potential of their work, refine their value proposition, and get to know the people they want to serve. Completers are prepared to pursue pitch competitions, investors, and federal SBIR/STTR funding.

The red carpet came out for IdeaStorm Fall 2026 at the BELL. 🌩️

Our students pitched their business ideas to a packed room, and the energy was unmatched. Bold ideas, big applause, and a whole lot of Hawkeye entrepreneurial spirit.

Congratulations to Byron Roth recipient of the John Pappajohn Legacy Award! 💛

We honored Byron at the inaugural Iowa Entrepreneurship Gala. This award goes to those who share John Pappajohn's lasting commitment to students and the entire Iowa entrepreneurial community, and Byron embodies it.

A native Iowan, Byron is Executive Chairman and co-founder of ROTH Capital Partners, which he built alongside his brothers Ted and Gordon into a nationally recognized investment bank. He has also opened the ROTH Conference to University of Iowa students, giving them unparalleled exposure to executive-level business environments and real-world operations.

Your startup idea deserves a real test drive. 💡 Venture School is back for Fall 2026, and it's statewide. Using the NSF I-Corps customer discovery method, you'll validate your idea by talking to real customers, then pitch for cash prizes at the end.
