Another great pianist, but probably more well known as one of the greatest piano teachers of our time has left us 😢. I have read some of his books which were very insightful and helped me become a better teacher.

I was just informed by my older daughter, Erika Birnbaum that April 30 is "International Jazz Day". I have to confess that I was totally unaware that there was such a day. I wish I would have known about this earlier and that the gathering was in Chicago this year--I probably would have made an effort to attend 🙃.

On January 23, 2026, Marvin Blickenstaff passed away peacefully at his home in Pennsylvania.
As a man of profound faith, he was prepared for the end of his life, having lived his life in service to others.

Something Anthony has in common with the elite Choir of King's College, Cambridge is being able to sing for the choral music-loving Estonians. Back in 1990 Anthony was part of Kantorei at the University of Iowa which toured the then USSR. He remembers fondly how deep the Estonians love for singing goes.
Tomorrow as part of Anthony’s family’s love of choral music they will be continuing their long standing tradition of listening to the King’s Choir Christmas Eve service, Nine Lessons and Carols. Join him and others around the world at 3PM GMT, or 9AM central.

As Anthony is gearing up for the Christmas season, he wanted to share some of his thanksgiving highlights.
First up is a baroque concert his eldest daughter performed in. A short intro with one of his favorites by Monteverdi, followed by a wonderful little Handel Organ Concerto and topped off with Bach’s Magnificat. Here is the Manteverdi and Handel!
