Tonight, our students immerse themselves in the time-honored practice of Tameshigiri (translated, this means test cutting)! ✨🥋

With each precise cut, they pay homage to the samurai's dedication to the way of the sword. Samurai believed that their sword was a reflection of the warrior’s soul. Therefore, their katanas needed to be tested to estimate their sharpness and efficiency through a variety of cuts on bamboo and rice straw mats (and in earlier times people). Today we continue this tradition. On rice straw mats, of course. 😉
