SAFE BASE SAFE BASE’S mission is to Provide academic, health, and social enrichment in a safe and fun environment.

SAFE BASE, in its eleventh year as the after-school and summer program for the Iola school district, serves almost 1,000 K-12th grade students annually, including home-schooled and Christian schooled students. Encouraging and promoting excellence in all students, SAFE BASE is not a remedial program, but an opportunity for all students to spark and fuel their interests and talents. Four afternoons

a week, SAFE BASE provides after-school academic and enrichment programming for students. SAFE BASE works to cultivate life-long learning skills and empower students to achieve their greatest potential.

Summer, summer, summer, summer!!! Paper copies of the attached FREE K-8th grade summer enrollment form and calendar will be sent home with Iola USD 257 students tomorrow, Friday, April 24.
Remember! There is no school on Monday, April 27 and no SAFE BASE next week, Tues.-Thurs., April 28-30, to allow for training.

Hello! We are looking for Beanie Babies for students as part of our Good Pet Parent class. At the end of the seven-week class, students, as newly certified good pet parents, will be able to select a Beanie Baby to adopt. With students being able to adopt whatever type of pet they wish, the type of pet or Beanie Baby doesn't matter. It does not have to be a traditional type of pet. If you have any Beanie Babies that you would be willing to donate to this effort, please message us or call 365-4780. Thank you in advance for helping us and for sharing this request!

So ready to get our 26th year started with kiddos on Monday, Sept. 8th!! With more than a quarter of a century of providing free programming to area families, Iola USD 257's SAFE BASE has impacted generations of youth. Enrollment and registration forms will be sent home tomorrow with Iola Elementary School K-5th grade students. Forms will be provided to Iola Middle School 6th grade students for pickup from the middle school office on Monday. SAFE BASE also welcomes school-aged K-6th grade home-schooled students. Questions? Tragically, we lost one of our high school students Friday morning, who was also a past SAFE BASE attendee for a number of years. To allow staff to attend her service Wednesday afternoon, we have received permission to cancel SAFE BASE on Wednesday. We will call parents/guardians of Wednesday students on Monday morning to make them aware of this cancellation. Tomorrow and Tuesday’s schedule will be as normal. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding.

We want to say a BIG thank you to Shannon Patterson, Allen County Kansas County Clerk, for coming to Iola Elementary to register eligible parents, guardians and staff to vote in November's election, as well as allowing Iola USD 257 SAFE BASE and the Title One teachers and faculty to borrow the County's no-longer-used voting booths for our event! Also a BIG thank you to Ron Holman and his colleague for delivering, constructing and picking up the voting booths for us! 🇺🇸
